
Keith Vaughan, the long-time head of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, will retire at the end of 2015, ending a 14-year run at the helm of the Triad's largest law firm.
Betty Temple, who practices in the firm's Atlanta and Greenville, S.C., offices, has been named chairwoman-elect for the 550-attorney firm.
It will be the first time the Winston-Salem-based firm will be led by an attorney from outside the Triad, with Temple also becoming the first woman and the youngest leader for the firm.
