One subplot of the Silver story: An opening for lawsuit reform

Tom Stebbins has plenty of stories that illustrate how and why the arrest of state Assemblyman Sheldon Silver, one of the most powerful lawmakers in New York, will lead to some important pro-business legislation in the near future. Silver, a Democrat and Assembly speaker since 1994, faces fraud and extortion charges. He is accused of taking nearly $4 million worth of bribes and kickbacks. Silver has denied the charges.
