Mastro associate Tom Hazelrigg III appeals prison sentence for tax evasion

Bellevue businessman Tom Hazelrigg III, convicted of two counts of tax evasion, does not want to go to prison. On Thursday, he pleaded with a judge for nearly an hour not to incarcerate him but received a 54-month sentence. The next day his attorney filed a notice stating he's appealing the sentence to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. The sentencing judge denied a federal prosecutor's request to immediately send Hazelrigg to prison, and Hazelrigg is free on bond awaiting…
