Former Mountain Brook jeweler receives prison sentence after pawning stolen diamonds

A prison sentence has been handed down to a Vestavia Hills man convicted of money laundering. A federal judge on Wednesday sentenced Joseph Harold Gandy, the former owner and operator of Denman-Crosby Jewelry Store in Mountain Brook, to three years and nine months in a federal prison, according to a report from Fox 6. US Attorney Joyce White Vance said Gandy pawned a 3-carat diamond after reporting it was stolen. Gandy will have to pay $20,000 in restitution to the jewelers where he pawned the…
