Silver pleads not guilty, trial date set

Former New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver pleaded not guilty to corruption charges Tuesday, and a trial has been scheduled for November. According to a report by the Associated Press, Silver pleaded not guilty in a Manhattan courthouse. The Manhattan Democrat and attorney has said numerous times that he will be vindicated. Silver is facing two counts each of mail fraud, wire fraud and extortion, in addition to a new charge of engaging in monetary transactions involving crime proceedings.…
