Hawaii receives $12M settlement from credit card companies

The Hawaii state attorney general’s office transferred $12.5 million into the state general fund after resolving lawsuits with several national credit card providers — including Chase, Citi, Bank of America, Discover, HSBC, Capital One and Barclays — for illegal practices involving marketing credit card protection plans. In 2012, the state sued the credit card companies to stop those practices. Hawaii Attorney General Doug Chin said Hawaii consumers were solicited by the credit card companies…
