Hawaiian Home Lands lessees grow closer to going solar through leases
The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands is getting closer to allowing its lessees to install rooftop solar photovoltaic systems on their homes through leasing arrangements.
The DHHL currently allows its lessees to install rooftop PV systems, but only if they buy them on their own.
SolarCity, Sunrun and Vivint Solar are among the companies that allow customers to go the leasing route, where the companies own and maintain the systems, reducing the upfront cost of installation.
