Triad businessman ordered to pay $5.5M in securities fraud case

A Graham businessman has been ordered to pay penalties and restitution of $5.5 million after pleading guilty to securities fraud and filing a false tax return. James Harvey Mason was accused of soliciting and pooling at least $5.3 million from about 500 people to participate in an off-exchange foreign currency commodity pool and then misappropriating at least $600,000 of the funds.
