
In discussing recently arrested Sheldon Silver in the New York Times, the U.S. Attorney in Manhattan, Preet Bharara, described the charges against the former speaker of the Assembly as "go(ing) to the very core of what ails Albany."
If the kickbacks and bribes allegedly taken by Silver amounting to more than $4 million over about 15 years wasn't reason enough to call for new ethics measures in Albany, the examples of inappropriate conduct and corruption from recent history can certainly further…
