
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said Thursday it will raise the pay of its half-million U.S. workers to a minimum of $9 an hour this year and plans to pay at least $10 next February.
The retail behemoth — operator of the Walmart and Sam's Club chains and Walmart.com — is often criticized for its low pay rates for some "associates." Wal-Mart has 10 Walmart stores in Hawaii and two Sam's Clubs, both on Oahu.
