Renewable energy plan for Hawaii’s public schools finally gets traction

A major plan to help Hawaii’s 255 public schools reduce energy consumption and costs, initially hindered by Hawaiian Electric Co.’s slowness of interconnecting rooftop solar energy systems, has received approvals for 24 schools in phase one, with another 45 schools in the process of being assessed for systems.
