Despite Hawaii base, SUP apparel maker Sweet Waterwear sells mostly on the Mainland

Despite stand-up paddleboarding originating in Hawaii and its popularity in the Islands, it’s surprising that a homegrown apparel maker for the sport sells more than 90 percent of its products on the Mainland. Sweet Waterwear creates sportswear for specifically for SUP and other on-the-water sports such as outrigger canoe paddling, windsurfing and kayaking. Its founder and owner Sean Sweet, a 30-year veteran in the apparel industry, started the company when he got hooked on the sport back in 2008. SUP…
