
A report released last month shows that the University of Hawaii Cancer Center and UH John A. Burns School of Medicine school will need approximately $14 million to save valuable federal designations, even as it merges to cut costs.
The cancer center needs $10.5 million for fiscal year 2017 to retain its National Cancer Institute designation, and the medical school needs $3.6 million for faculty salaries to maintain its accreditation.
