
Hawaii's population last year rose by by 4.4 percent to 1.41 million residents, from 1.36 million in 2010, but all three of Hawaii's Neighbor Island counties saw a higher percentage of growth in population than that of the state average and the City and County of Honolulu, according to 2014 U.S. Census Bureau data.
On the islands of Maui and Lanai, where the highest percentage increase took place, the population jumped by 5.3 percent to 163,108, from 154,925 in 2010.
