
Colorado’s biggest rural coop, the Intermountain Rural Electric Association, will institute a new, groundbreaking charge aimed at recovering the cost of service from residential customers who rely on solar power panels for their electricity supply during the day, and the cooperative at night.
IREA’s board voted 6-1 to adopt the new “Load Factor Adjustment,” or LFA, charge effective Dec. 31, 2015, IREA spokesman Josh Liss said.
The idea of a new charge was first proposed in June.
