Exclusive: Forest Park’s Dallas hospital misses payroll, closes its doors

Forest Park Medical Center’s hospital in Dallas missed payroll on Friday, then apparently closed the doors of its flagship facility in the latest setback for the once proud luxury health care system. A Forest Park worker who came to one of the hospital's entrances shortly after 8 p.m. Friday told the Dallas Business Journal that the hospital closed as of 5 p.m. that day. Mesa Labs settles lawsuit over Amega Scientific acquisition

Mesa Laboratories Inc. will pay $3.165 million to the former owner of a business it acquired in 2013 to settle a lawsuit over the deal. The payout agreed to by Lakewood-based Mesa will go to Anthony Amato, former owner of New Jersey-based Amega Scientific Corp., Mesa Labs said in an settlement announcement Thursday. Former St. Louis prosecutor admits covering up for officer who assaulted inmate

A former assistant circuit attorney in the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office has pleaded guilty to covering up for a police officer who assaulted an inmate. Bliss Barber Worrell, 28, pleaded guilty to one count of misprision of a felony. The charge carries a potential penalty of up to three years in prison, but prosecutors and Worrell’s lawyer agreed to a sentence of 18 months. A federal judge has final say over sentencing. A Colorado Springs man and his Nevada business associate are accused of stealing millions from investors, according to an indictment by a federal grand jury in Denver. Pewaukee medical device makers Cardiac Science, Criticare seek relief via courts

Two Pewaukee medical technology companies that share the same address — Cardiac Science Corp. and Criticare Systems Inc. — are under financial duress and seeking relief in the court system. Cardiac Science Corp. filed for Chapter 11 reorganization Tuesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court listing assets of between $10 million and $50 million and liabilities of $100 million to $500 million.
