Ohio sues New York debt collector accused of harassing Dayton-area consumers

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has filed a lawsuit against a Buffalo, New York, debt collector accused of impersonating Ohio government agencies and threatening consumers with arrest while attempting to collect debts. The lawsuit accuses Nationwide Recovery Group LLC and its owner, Michael P. McCarthy, of violating the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
