2 banks serving Colorado plan merger, new Denver HQ

Kansas-based Sunflower Financial Inc. - parent of Sunflower Bank, which has 10 Colorado branches - and Texas-based Strategic Growth Bancorp Inc., which owns seven-branch First National Denver, said Thursday they have inked a deal to merge.

UMKC picks contractors for complex $14.5M renovation project

McCarthy Building Cos. Inc. has been chosen to lead the renovation and modernization of 75,000 square feet of laboratory space in the Spencer Chemistry and Biological Sciences Building at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Brown & Brown sued by EEOC

A Daytona Beach-based insurance brokerage firm violated federal law by rescinding a job offer to a woman because of her pregnancy, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission charged in a lawsuit it filed Monday.

According to the EEOC's suit, Brown & Brown, which owns and operates 180 offices across the United States, made a written employment offer to the applicant and also sent her an employment agreement for a “personal lines technical assistant” position at its Daytona Beach location.
