Working group recommends Hawaii provide $2.2M for legal services to low/moderate income individuals

Hawaii should set aside $2.2 million in state general revenue funds to maintain and restore civil legal services for low and moderate income individuals, according to a working group of interested government agencies and community entities. The Hawaii State Judiciary would use the $2.2 million to purchase a service contract, the group said in a proposal to the House and the Senate ahead of the Jan. 20 start of the 2016 legislative session.
