Stoel Rives' new managing partner talks about changes at Portland's largest law firm

Change is afoot at Portland's largest law firm.

The managing partner of its Portland headquarters office remains Wally Van Valkenburg, but the firm's other "Van," Bob Van Brocklin stepped down this month as Stoel Rives' firm-wide managing partner, replaced by the founding managing partner of the firm's Anchorage, Alaska office. James Torgerson, originally from Minnesota, is the first-ever Alaska-based managing partne r of a major U.S. law firm.

Wells Fargo wins first round against Vikings in U.S. Bank Stadium photo-bomb fight

A federal judge has refused to order Wells Fargo & Co. to immediately cover its rooftop signs next to the Minnesota Vikings' new U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.

But U.S. District Judge Donovan Frank said in his ruling Thursday that the Vikings may proceed with their lawsuit against the San Francisco-based bank and might ultimately prevail.

JPMorgan Chase buys naming rights to Warriors arena (Video)

JPMorgan Chase & Co. has purchased the naming rights to the new Golden State Warriors arena in Mission Bay despite opposition to the project that is delaying its opening.

The arena will be called the Chase Center when it is expected to open in 2019. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed. Valero eliminates stockholder restriction on removing board members without cause

Stockholders can now remove a member of Valero Energy Corp.'s board of directors without cause following changes to the company's bylaws.

The San Antonio-based refining company's bylaws previously stated that stockholders could only remove board members for cause.

Valero (NYSE: VLO) confirmed the changes in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday afternoon.

Automotive supplier to lay off 50 at Prattville plant

An automotive parts supplier in Prattville will soon be hit with cutbacks.

Fras-le North America Inc. issued federal WARN notices to 50 employees at its Prattville plant on Dec. 7., according to the Alabama Department of Commerce.

The layoffs are effective Feb. 21.

Fras-le is a Brazilian-owned manufacturer of linings and pads for heavy duty vehicles, along with pads, linings, and shoes for light vehicles, according to the company's website.
