The Court of Appeals of Georgia ruled the Piedmont Park Conservancy can lease a portion of its real property to a third party while continuing to enjoy a charitable property tax exemption on the remainder of the property.
According to Alston & Bird LLP State & Local Tax (SALT) Team, the conservancy, a charitable organization whose mission is to preserve and maintain Atlanta’s Piedmont Park, owns a parcel of land adjacent to the park that is mostly a single building and a parking lot.
