Asset management employee goes to prison for $4M embezzlement

Thomas Hauk of Overland Park was sentenced to nine years in federal prison without parole for embezzling $4.16 million from Assured Management Co. in Westwood.

Hauk was an accountant at Assured Management from 2005 to 2015 and engaged in several schemes that defrauded the company's clients. Hauk used the stolen money for his own personal gain, including purchasing a vast collection of expensive watches, jewelry, automobiles and motorcycles that were seized by law enforcement agents and auctioned…
