Erie County Sheriff’s use of Stingray may cross a line

The New York Civil Liberties Union released on Tuesday records it received from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office that indicate only once in the 47 times the department used its Stingray surveillance device in the past four years did it obtain a court order to do so.
