A federal judge ruled Thursday that Schnuck Markets' liability to two payment-processing partners related to its data breach is limited to $500,000.
In June, Schnucks asked Judge John Ross to force First Data Merchant Services Corp., its transaction processor, and Citicorp Payment Services Inc., its merchant bank, to return money they earmarked for banks' losses related to its huge data breach from December 2012 to March 2013, which exposed an estimated 2.4 million credit and debit cards.
