There's a new trend emerging in the luxury marketplace, turning seven-seat crossovers into first-class limousines with fewer (but more luxurious) seats. And BMW could be the next to enter the fray with a version of the forthcoming flagship X7.

Federal judge closes books on Florida gay marriage ban

More than a year after same-sex marriages began in Florida, a federal judge on Thursday issued a final judgment declaring that Florida's voter-approved prohibition against gay marriage is unconstitutional.

In a harshly worded ruling, U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle rejected state officials' arguments that a final order in the Florida case was unnecessary due to a seminal U.S. Supreme Court decision last year that struck down state bans on same-sex marriages nationwide.

Coppola goes solo, opens law firm

Lisa Coppola, a trailblazing attorney who's been practicing law for 25 years, has embarked on a solo practice, Lisa Coppola LLC on Harlem Road in Amherst. It will be her and an assistant at the law firm focused on businesses. Coppola was the first woman litigator to be named an equity partner at Buffalo's largest firm Hodgson Russ and then helped the law firm, now known as Rupp Baase Pfalzgraf Cunningham, grow from five to about 40 attorneys in 12 years.

Feds crack disputed iPhone, drop encryption case against Apple

The Justice Department has dropped its court action against Apple, saying it has successfully hacked into an iPhone used by a San Bernardino terrorist without the assistance of the Cupertino company.

“The government has now successfully accessed the data stored on (Syed Rizwan) Farook’s iPhone and therefore no longer requires the assistance from Apple,” the Justice Department said in a court filing Monday.
