Members of the congressional delegations from Colorado and New Mexico are asking President Barack Obama to send additional help in the wake of the spill of 3 million gallons of mining wastewater into southwestern Colorado’s rivers.
The spill was caused by contractors working for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which on Wednesday ordered all its field crews to "stand down" all investigations and assessments of mines nationwide "unless there is imminent risk in a specific case."
