Hotel occupancy drops on Oahu, rate jumps on Maui, Kauai push Hawaii average up 3%

A decline in occupancy in Waikiki and other Oahu hotels last week pushed Hawaii’s statewide occupancy rate down, while increases in average daily room rates on Maui and Kauai were enough to offset a drop on the Big Island and push the statewide rate up by 3 percent, according to the weekly report from Hospitality Advisors LLC and STR Inc.
