Hawaii hotel occupancy hits 78% as average room rate climbs 7.6%

Hawaii hotels filled more rooms at higher rates last week, compared to a year earlier, as they entered the so-called shoulder season following spring break. Shoulder seasons typically have fewer guests, compared to the busier holiday and summer seasons. The statewide average hotel occupancy rate for the week ending April 11 was 78.2 percent, up 2.9 percentage points from 2014, while the average room rate rose 7.6 percent to $251.07, according to Hospitality Advisors LLC and STR Inc.
