Sprint, Verizon will pay customers millions for 'mobile cramming' allegations

Sprint and Verizon Wireless agreed to a $158 million settlement to resolve allegations of "mobile cramming." The settlement with state attorneys general and a handful of federal agencies is related to allegations that the wireless companies charged customers for unauthorized services from third parties. The settlement calls for Verizon Wireless to pay $90 million and Sprint Corp. to pay $68 million. Of that money, a minimum of $70 million will go to refund charges made to Verizon Wireless customers…
