U.S. District Judge Callie V. S. Granade on Thursday ordered all 67 Alabama probate judges to comply with the U.S. Constitution, allowing same-sex couples to purchase marriage licenses.
This followed the first ruling by Granade in February, which struck down an Alabama law and separate constitutional provision that banned same-sex marriage.
The measure was short-lived, after the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Supreme Court declined to stay Granade's decision.
