An aging workforce and lack of new talent in water operations could be the difference between cleaner, safer water and bursting pipes.
This winter, several Albany area communities saw pipes bursting, power outages and service interruptions - causing problems for residents and businesses. Part of the problem is little funding to repair aging pipes. But Albany Water Commissioner Joe Coffey said a lack of qualified waste water workers is also putting stress on the industry.
